The Irish Guards Association previously known as the Old Comrades was formed after WWI to help those members of the regiment to keep in touch with one another and to obtain employment after leaving the colours.
Since then, the Association has evolved into five different branches, Republic of Ireland, Ulster, London, West Midlands and North of England. All the branches have monthly meeting, events and annual dinners in their geographical areas. We also inform our members via our website and social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Whatsapp in order to meet the needs of today’s Mick.
The objects of the associations still remain the same: To keep a connection and circulate information about the regiment including assisting members of the regiment, who are leaving the colours.
To communicate with the regiment and welfare agencies of any possible deserving case where a serving or non-serving member of the regiment requires assistance. This includes their dependents.
If you have served or are still serving in the Irish Guards, you are eligible to become a member of the branch. Armed forces including foreign forces can apply to become an Associate Member. People who have not served in the Irish Guards but have given outstanding service to the Regiment and supported their local branch can apply to become Honorary Members.
